Client Transaction ID (ClientTrxID) Length

Intended Audience: Software Suppliers

Situation: It has been identified that across Europe a small number of Software Suppliers have implemented short Client Transaction Id (ClientTrxId) in their software.

Background:

EMVO have issued a bulletin and we are echoing this to our UK software supplier community.
From release 1.04 of the NMVS, to be deployed in the UK on 7th August inter-market transactions will pass the ClientTrxId submitted to the EMVS for transaction correlation and this minimum field length requirement will be enforced.

Recommendations:

Software Suppliers must ensure that when developing their software solution the Client Transaction ID (ClientTrxID) being generated must be a minimum of 8 characters.
