Alert Messages: “manualentryflag” True/False

21st November 2019

In an alert message, the category “manualentryflag” will read as either TRUE or FALSE.

In end users’ systems with correct configuration the following applies:

  • When the value is TRUE, the information was manually entered by the end user;
  • When the value is FALSE, the information was entered via a bar code reader (scanner).

However, it has been noted that a number of end user systems are misconfigured and are not correctly announcing that the data has been entered manually. In the event that a manual entry causes an alert to be raised, this misconfiguration adds a burden to the investigation process.

Therefore, OBPs should not, for the time being, rely on the information presented in the “manualentryflag” field when undertaking investigation processes.
